What are we looking for?
We are seeking a Senior Architect to join our team on a 12 month maternity cover contract. We are looking for an individual with excellent organisation, communication and project management skills to ensure the smooth running of both projects and our architectural practice. You will need to have good attention to detail, as well having a problem solving mindset and have good interpersonal and relational skills, both for team management and client engagement. Experience and an interest in sustainable architecture and the use of natural materials is essential. You will have been ARB registered for 5+ years, have experience in using software such as Revit, InDesign & Photoshop, as well as hand drawing skills and presentation skills.

Architectural Project Work
- Contributes to multiple Architecture projects that span all of the RIBA stages. Activities include:
- Preparing and contributing to stakeholder engagement activities, including the Lead Consultant role
- Writing briefs, assessing the needs of the building/user and the impact on the local environment
- Working on building models in Revit
- Generating drawings and schedules and visualisations
- Preparation of specifications and reports
- Preparation and submission of planning applications, liaison with planning departments
- Coordinating compliance with building regulations and other elective standards such as structural warranty
- Contributing to design coordination and communication with other professionals and clients
- Managing a budget and programme through design phase
- Ensuring that the environmental impact of the project is managed
- Attending and contributing to design reviews
- Working collaboratively with the in-house construction team to quality assure manufacturing and construction work

Travel outside of normal working hours for commuting purposes may be required for up to 75 minutes from your home location. We are offering a salary of up to £43,434.30 per year for a full-time equivalent role of 37.5 hours per week. The salary offered is dependent on experience and qualifications.

As the Senior Architect, you will coordinate a small design team designing buildings that blend natural construction with contemporary design, using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) that blend both traditional and natural construction methods with the best of cutting-edge construction techniques. You will also work closely with our CEO to guide the growth of Down to Earth’s architectural work.
Down to Earth offers sustainable construction to participants from diverse backgrounds to improve education outcomes as well as improving wellbeing. As the lead in the architecture team, you will be embedding these principles into projects from their very inception and support the future growth and work of Down to Earth.

Nid busnes fel arfer
Yn bendant nid ydym yn “fusnes arferol”. Ers 2005 rydym ni wedi bod yn cynnig profiadau sy'n newid bywydau i rai o'r cymunedau mwyaf difreintiedig yng Nghymru drwy eu cynnwys adeiladau trawiadol a mannau awyr agored gyda deunyddiau naturiol a thechnolegau adnewyddadwy.
Trwy greu, defnyddio, a gofalu am y cyfleusterau nodedig hyn gyda'n grwpiau, rydym ni’n darparu gofal iechyd ac addysg mewn ffyrdd newydd sy’n cael eu cydnabod yn rhyngwladol, gan ddangos hefyd sut mae'n bosibl creu byd gwell: un sy'n dda i bobl ac yn dda i'r blaned.
Mae Down to Earth yn grŵp arobryn o fentrau cymdeithasol, rydym ni’n gweithredu ar fodel dosbarthu dielw ond yn ymdrechu i wneud elw i hyrwyddo ein heffaith. Rydym ni wedi ein lleoli ym Mhenrhyn Gŵyr, Abertawe ac yn gwneud gwaith da ledled De Cymru.
Cyfleoedd Cyfartal
Rydym ni wedi ymrwymo i hyrwyddo cyfleoedd cyfartal mewn cyflogaeth. Byddwch chi ac unrhyw ymgeisydd am swydd yn cael triniaeth gyfartal waeth beth fo'ch oedran, anabledd, ailbennu rhywedd, statws priodasol neu bartner sifil, beichiogrwydd neu fam, hil, lliw, cenedligrwydd, tarddiad ethnig neu genedlaethol, crefydd neu gred, rhyw neu gyfeiriadedd rhywiol.
We believe we can create a better world - one which is good for people and good for the planet.
We believe in tackling inequality and the challenges of sustainability - at the same time - through a new inclusive way of working.
We do this through supporting people who are often on the margins of society - believing in people and creating opportunities to build a better world.
Not business as usual
We are most definitely not “business as usual”. Since 2005 we have been offering life-changing experiences to some of the most disadvantaged communities in Wales by involving them in creating stunning buildings and outdoor spaces with natural materials and renewable technologies.
By creating, using, and looking after these landmark facilities with our groups, we deliver health care and education in new and internationally recognised ways, showing how it's possible to create a better world: one that is good for people and good for the planet.
Down to Earth is an award-winning group of a social enterprises, we operate on a non-profit distributing model but strive to make a profit to further our impact. We are based on the Gower Peninsula, Swansea and do good work throughout South Wales.
